LIFE

Hello World, it's been a while

Me as a kid, in an oversized blue puffer coat, walking across a schoolyard holding a handheld game with both hands.
Me and "The Pretty Little Mermaid" handheld — probably the first game I ever played.

It's been a while since I've blogged or posted about what's been going on in my life, recently I've been receding from a lot of social media apps/sites, so now with their smaller footprint in my daily doom scroll, I suppose I'll post here.

Last month I celebrated 8 years working on Pokémon GO, 7 years at Niantic and 1 year at now Scopely Explore, yahoo~! I remember talking with my cohort on like year 2 saying something along the lines of "these two years felt like five years". And now that I'm 8 I have no clever thing to say except "8 years??? WUT?!" It's been quite an adventure, sometimes fun, sometimes stressful, always pretty fast paced, and everyday I'm still learning something new, so I'd say pretty worth it.

I'm at a point in my career/life now where I'm starting to get better aligned for a possible Indie future. A dream of mine is to have a bit of slower paced life style and make some dumb little games, and that's why I'm kicking off the journey with this post. I'm not quite able to be fully independent yet, but I think I can get some (slow) traction going. I've been watching CJ work on his games the past couple years and it's been inspiring and also extremely humbling about the reality of Indie game making, so I'm going to approach it cautiously while still trying to have fun.

So, Hello World again, my name is Ebby, I work on games, and hopefully will keep the streak going.
